A Florida sheriff's office shared video from the tense encounter that resulted when a K-9 searching for a suspect in the woods came face-to-face with a bear.

Sept. 9 (UPI) -- A Florida sheriff's office shared video from the tense encounter that resulted when a K-9 searching for a suspect in a wooded area came face-to-face with a bear.

The Volusia Sheriff's Office said the K-9, named Gator, and his handler were searching through the woods for an aggravated battery suspect during the weekend.

"He found a hidden forest dweller instead: His first bear," the Sheriff's Office said on social media.

"Holy [expletive], that's a bear," a deputy exclaims in body camera footage shared by the sheriff's office.

The post also included video of the bear as seen from an aerial camera.

"Both sides walked away from this encounter unharmed and with a mutual respect," the post said.
